Well, will you look at that? The oppression of women, the display of the double standard, and just the freaking ridicule all rolled into one fugly ass t-shirt with a stupid little font. Yes I said it, the oppression of women...because that's where everything goes back to. It's like saying "HA HA I can wear a shirt that insults me but you can't because it would be even more degrading for you to do so." What if you saw a girl walking down the street with a shirt that catches your eye with this giant "WHORE" on the front of her shirt? What would you think? "Who is this WHORE that's taking up my breathing space with her giant knockers?" Well I won't insult you because you probably won't think that. But many would receive a crappier connotation from a girl who wore a WHORE shirt versus a guy who wore a MAN WHORE shirt. It's just how it works. Ugh. *goes on rambling about how she hates the world* Remember, whenever you call a girl a bitch or a whore, your status on my "castrate list" goes up a few spots, and not to mention the obstruction of social change. Just a little something to leave you with :).

hm. now while i do agree that this is an obvious problem out there, i wouldnt say that its exclusive only to america. you probably are right when you say that there are no derogatory words for dudes minus racist ones, but thats probably due to thousands of years of "male superiority" and all that other crap.
ill agree with you that dudes are probably at fault here, but girls cant be disregarded from the issue too. i dont know how many times ive heard girls call other girls bitches and sluts too, so the problem isnt really innately male. in my opinion, its society that allows these views to continue and unless that changes, theres not much hope. but thats just me.

Yeah, you're right about the whole girls calling other girls sluts and bitches and how it's not exclusive to America. I think I overemphasized the whole hating on males thing, yeah it's society that keeps this male supremacy alive. But hey, if it doesn't change in this lifetime, it will eventually.

The word manwhore doesn't have as negative a connotation as the word whore by itself. Manwhore has become synonymous with the word pimp, and since being a pimp in this society is "cool," then being a manwhore must be "cool" too.
I'm not sure if men invented the word because, you know, black people now call each other their "niggas." *gets shot for saying the N-word by all black people*
It's possible, though. More likely than not, men DID invent these demeaning phrases.

i mean, i guess that's a slightly interesting thing to ponder - like how calling men and women whores has varying effects, but your blog really frustrates me. Even if this might be true, that men calling themselves whores cannot undo thousands of years of oppression, not offering any solution or constructive criticism is pretty annoying. By the way - in response to that whole "girls say bitch too" crap: Girls only use those types of derogatory words towards each other BECAUSE males invented it and ingrained it into the discourse that ebbs and flows in our society.

in response to the pat: that maybe true, but you cant simply say that dudes are the epic source of the problem. im just saying that girls should be taken into account for their actions too. i mean, its not monkey see, monkey do. ppl, whether they be boy or girl, can think about what they say and do affects the big circle.

Uggggggh. Another great topic. This whole issue with girls being viewed as whores & sluts & men only being viewed as a pimp (in a positive light) & a manwhore (in a more mocking light) really pisses me off.
