Creationism Can Go To Hell

Creationism and evolution. The two go head to head against each other. Evolution is backed by years of research and factual evidence, but also has a few unsolved mysteries and holes. Creationism on the other hand is all faith. So what the creationists are doing now, they're trying to put in this "strengths and weaknesses" of evolution type currriculum into our schools.

Now, I don't believe that's a bad thing at all; if it's the truth, it should be told. In fact, I would actually advocate the truth, just so it could open more doors and motivate for more scientific discoveries. But if one were to tweak that truth and lie to the masses...well that's just something, isn't it? Something I’m hoping would never happen is the exaggeration of a mistake, and the incorporation of this exaggeration into the minds of our youth. Of course, the real reason these creationists are trying to slip that strengths and weaknesses curriculum into our coffee is to set the stage for their intelligent design takeover. Obviously people need to keep in mind that science is science, faith is faith. If evolution were to be disproved, the true alternative would not be backed by faith. Would they go through the same amount of analysis for their own idea of creationism?

I found an article from about three weeks ago talking about this subject. Here is the link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/04/us/04evolution.html?_r=1&scp=5&sq=creationism&st=nyt&oref=login

"The chairman of the state education board, Dr. Don McLeroy, a dentist in Central Texas, denies that the phrase [the phrase being “strengths and weaknesses”] “is subterfuge for bringing in creationism.”

“Why in the world would anybody not want to include weaknesses?” Dr. McLeroy said."

That’s found to be really funny, because well…come on, now. Any 5-year-old with half a brain could figure out what this whole thing is about. If you’re ever going to try and get yourself a legitimate reputation and to not become the laughingstock of the century, that is just not the way to go. This opinion of Mr. McLeroy is from a completely neutral point of view at the moment. But soon that will change, because I am going to start stabbing at everything.

Yes, evolution is a theory. Just a theory, you say. Remember, a theory is not something completely off from fact. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a theory in the first place. What is creationism? It’s a belief. A belief. If evolution is wrong, I wouldn’t be one to say, “No, it’s right. What else are we going to replace it with if it’s not true?”. No, I would never say that. But this case is completely different in the way that they’re trying to replace evolution with something that has lesser evidence to back up. If it actually made sense, I would give it a chance. But this is just rubbish. Why are we going backwards here?

It wouldn’t be surprising, though, if evolution was something fed to people since there’s nothing else to explain how we got here. Like a placeholder of sorts. It would be pretty tough to do such a thing though, even with the government and all its power. They would need to challenge scientists from all around the world, so I’m not going to come to that conclusion. I’m not a big fan of biology, but I can tell the difference between religion and science. It’s not that hard.

As for creationism, I just can’t agree with a lot of the things said. I find it really hard to believe that the earth is not a few billion years old but a few thousand instead. Where is the evidence here? From your bible? A lot of people have done things “according to the bible” when in reality they were basically just imagining things and misinterpreting the not so deep meanings from the text.

I’ll have to add, the guy in the article is just funny.

Here is a more recent article if one is interested:

i picked a good day to randomly check your blog.

so yeah. i think religious beliefs should be kept far far away from regular curriculum. i mean thats why people go to sunday school and church and stuff.

in garcia's class during ssr i always read this book from her shelf called Lies My Teacher Told Me and it's basically about how illegit history textbooks are and how the truth is hidden in most situations. and looks now people want to put science into that category as well. hard core christians seem to clash with almost all aspects of science.

so i read the article and the guy was like my religious views wont change the way my kids learn or something. BULLSHIT.
if you dont teach them evolution but talk about God the whole time of course tahts going to change their thoguhts. your a damn teacher.

man, people annoy me. WHOO EVOLUTION!

forshizzleh.

beliefs are stupid nowadays, cuz its past a small thought, now its a system thats brainwashing everyone of every age group. Every religion says that creatures and the earth was made at a different time, now which one do we believe now? Just cause a certain prophet walked the Earth, it doesnt mean thats the time the Earth was made, thats so STUPID! its like saying the land form of America was made the day George Washington was president. Man, wonder how long till all this religion bullshit goes away and people could actually see whats real and not real.

Hey thanks for the comments you two!

@ Ashmi, I was actually going to put that bit about education and history you were talking about into this post, but I decided not to and instead to write it in a separate blog. It's not fully the same thing, but it kinda relates. haha it's like you read my mind.
